Meet the Team Behind Northland's 5.0-Star Service
A 5.0-star rating doesn't happen by accident. It happens because of the people who show up before sunrise in a storm, keep the equipment running, and answer the phone when a customer has a question. Behind every clean driveway is a team that's been thinking about your winter since long before the first flake fell.
Here's who's behind Northland Snow & Ice Management, and what each of them brings to the table.
Greg Monrad, Founder
Greg (pictured on the right) started Northland in 2018 with one truck, one high school schedule, and four clients. Today he oversees sales, customer relations, and business strategy for a company approaching 1,000 residential customers across Fairport, Webster, and beyond. His other career as a commercial insurance broker shaped how Northland approaches risk in ways you might not expect — years spent insuring the properties other agencies turned away built the same mentality he brought into snow removal: take on the tight driveways and tricky properties that traditional operators pass on. That willingness to say yes to the harder job is baked into how Northland operates at every level.
Lucas Parkison, Shop & Operations Manager
Lucas (pictured on the left) runs day-to-day snow operations, from equipment modifications and repairs to dispatching and employee training. His hands-on approach to fleet maintenance is a big reason Northland's tractors stay running through the toughest stretches of winter, and his continuous equipment improvements keep the whole operation efficient season after season. When a storm hits at 3 a.m. and a tractor needs an unplanned repair, it's Lucas and his team making sure that downtime is measured in minutes, not hours.
Justin, Office Manager
Justin keeps the business side moving behind the scenes — bookkeeping, quoting, administrative operations, and the technology integrations that make scheduling and communication feel effortless. He's the reason things run smoothly even when nobody's thinking about how: quotes go out on time, invoices are accurate, and the systems customers rely on for tracking and updates actually work the way they're supposed to.
Trained and Certified
Northland holds the Certified Snow Professional (CSP) designation from the Snow & Ice Management Association, one of the industry's most recognized credentials, covering everything from operations and safety to equipment management and risk management. Operators also complete official Kubota equipment training to keep the fleet running safely and efficiently, and the team trains through Aurora Academy for route management, dispatching, GPS tracking, and storm operations. Put together, it means every part of the process — not just the plowing — meets a professional standard.
Fully Insured, Fully Accountable
Northland carries general liability, commercial auto, workers' compensation, and NYS disability and paid family leave coverage. That's not just paperwork — it means both your property and the team working on it are genuinely protected, every visit, all season long, no matter what a storm throws at us.
More Than 20 Employees Strong
During peak season, Northland's team grows to more than 20 employees — enough to keep routes tight and response times fast, even during back-to-back storms. It's a team built to scale without sacrificing the personal attention that earned that 5.0-star rating in the first place, and one that keeps growing right alongside the customer base it serves.
How the Team Comes Together During a Storm
A big storm tests every part of the operation at once. Greg and the office team are watching the forecast and communicating with customers before the first flake falls. Lucas and the field crew are prepping equipment and running routes in real time, adjusting as conditions change. Justin is making sure invoices, quotes, and customer questions don't fall through the cracks while everyone else is focused on the storm itself. It's that coordination — not just good equipment — that keeps service consistent when the weather isn't.
A Team Worth Trusting With Your Property
Certifications, insurance, and headcount all matter, but what they really add up to is trust. When you sign up with Northland, you're not just getting a tractor and a schedule — you're getting a team that's trained, accountable, and invested in doing the job right, storm after storm, season after season.
